After Jim Hackett was told his services would no longer be required and both Andy Lee and Ken Price rejected the opportunity to take up the position, Hunter has received several interesting applications.
"We have been interviewing people all week with regards the position, he said. "The standard of applicants is excellent and something should be tied up by the beginning of next week.
"Eight people have been interviewed for the job and all are aware of the budget restrictions."
When asked whether rumours surrounding current Nomad's Players' Player of the Season, Tom Baker, and former Westender Alan Glover being interviewed for the job were true, Hunter added:
"They have shown an interest and will be interviewed for the position. Of the eight who have been, or will be, interviewed the rest of the people are from outside the club and are based locally."
Hunter continued by thanking Ken Price for the work he carried out at the club during his tenure as coach.
"I phoned him last week to say thank you and also inquired about whether he would consider the managers position. The work he has done here will be continued however – including the scholarship scheme. We are controlled by the FAW through UEFA and need to carry out certain things to achieve the level needed for the licenses."
Meanwhile, former boss Hackett has been linked with the vacant managers position at Rhyl following the recent resignation of John Hulse after six years in charge.
