Bobby Raggett 10 & 35
Matty Phillips 30, 40, 48 & 75
Ben Howarth 42
Matty Gunther 83

Manager Daz Wynne's report:-

Team Line Up:- Sam Jones, Paul Glynn, Rob Shaw, Bobby Ragget, Jay Catton, Ben Howarth, Tom Lloyd, Dave Bamford, Marc Gunther, Matty Phillips, Bryn Preece.  Subs:- Carl Wilson, Luke Roberts, Jamie Cross, Tom Price, Phil Killa.

A brilliant all round performance against a decent Rhyl Nomads side.  We started to play well right from the off and had a goal disallowed when Matty Phillips was caught off side. But after 10 mins, Bryn Preece put in a brilliant corner to near post for Bobby Ragget to head into the net. We continued to win the battle and play the better football and after 30 mins Matty Phillips scored after a great pass from Tom Lloyd. On 35 mins, Bobby Ragget got his second, heading home from close range. Now well in command, it was no surprise when Phillips got his second on 40 mins, when he lobbed the advancing keeper. 2 mins later, Ben Howarth made it 5 - 0,  when he drilled home from the edge of the box.

The second half, we started where we left off, and Phillips got his hat trick on 48 mins, tapping in after good work from Marc Gunther. Then after 75 mins, Phillips scored his 4th, after a good move between Dave Bamford, Lloyd and Gunther. Gunther scored himself, after 83 mins, to finish off a devastated Rhyl side.

The whole team and squad was fantastic. Brilliant passing and the finishing was superb. The defence was solid and Sam Jones made a couple of decent saves, the midfield was brilliant and they won everything, then got the ball down and passed. Up front, they linked well and took their chances. The 2 16year olds Tom Price and Phil Killa did well when they came on. We have now set our standards and must keep at that level.    Well done lads !!!

NOMADS SURRENDER A 2-0 HALF TIME LEAD TO DRAW, BUT GOAL DIFFERENCE KEEPS THEM TOP:-

Goals from Tom Lloyd and Jim Gambino put Nomads 2-0 up at half time, but Llannefydd hit back with 2 second half goals from Gary Evans. Prestatyn Town 3rds could only draw at Caerwys Res, so Nomads stay top with a better goal difference.

Manager Daz Wynne's report:-

Team Line Up:- Luke Roberts, Ross Abercrombie, Jay Catton, Bobby Ragget, Rob Shaw, Ben Howarth, Carl Wilson, Tom Lloyd, James Gambino, Jamie Cross, Bryn Preece. Subs:- Sam Jones, Phil Killa, Tom Price, Carl Cooke.

A game which we should have won - and threw 2 points away. Not the best of starts, with no changing rooms and a car getting lost on the way. However, we started well and passed the ball well on a small pitch and began to dominate. After 15 mins Bryn Preece hit the pos,t then after 28 mins we scored a great goal, Tom Lloyd slotted home after great play between Ross Abercrombie and Jamie Cross. A good through ball by Carl Wilson put James Gambino clear, and he slotted the ball past the keeper a minute before half time.

We started the second half brightly. James Gambino hit the bar, then a lapse of concentration cost us dearly, when they scored 2 in 10 mins after poor defending. We tried to win the game, but missed a couple of good chances.

It was definately 2 points dropped, as we had the game under our control in the 1st half, but we got complacent in the 2nd half. Hopefully we will learn from this and play right up to the 90 mins.

GAMBINO SCORES 5, AS NOMADS RESERVES OVERWHELM RHOS TO MAINTAIN TOP SPOT:-

Manager Daz Wynne's report:-

Team Line Up:- Luke Roberts, Ross Abercrombie, Jay Catton, Bobby Ragget, Ben Howarth, Jamie Cross, Carl Cooke, Dave Bamford, James Gambino, Marc Gunther, Bryn Preece,  Subs:- Ben Elias, Carl Wilson, Tom Lloyd, Nathan Jones

After a shaky start when Rhos clipped the top of the bar, it woke us up and we came close to scoring when James Gambino headed just over, from a fine cross by Jamie Cross after 10 mins. On 12 mins, Gambino made no mistake from 6 yards out. In a very competitive game, Rhos got back on level terms when they got a corner and scored unchallenged in the box. Gambino was put through by Dave Bamford on 27 mins, and scored past the advancing keeper. 4mins later, Marc Gunther, working tirelessly up front, set up Gambino for his hat-trick and our fourth, Then just before half time, Gambino scored a great goal from the edge of the box.

In the second half, we continued to play well and got a fifth when Gunther scored, to cap a fine performance. We were not finished yet, and Bobby Ragget missed a penalty before Gambino got his fifth, 2 mins before the final whistle. It was a great performance, Gambino and Gunther were terrific up front and the team played well as a whole.

NOMADS RESERVES TOP THE CLWYD LEAGUE 2nd DIVISION, WITH 2nd CONSECUTIVE 5-1 VICTORY:- Nomads dominated the first half with some excellent football and went in with a 4-0 lead. Honours were even in the second half, giving Nomads a final 5-1 scoreline.

Manager Daz Wynne's report:-

We carried on where we left off on Saturday, with a fine performance. Jamie Cross scored the first after James Gambino beat 2 players to pull the ball back for him to score. We then went further ahead  5 mins later, when Ben Howath slotted the ball through for Jamie Cross to score his second. 10 mins later, after dominating the game, Brynley Preece fired home from the edge of the box for our third goal. James Gambino scored the fourth with a curling shot into the top corner, to give us a 4-0 half time lead.

In the second half, Bobby Ragget scored a penalty. Credit to Wepre they kept battling to the end and got rewarded  when they scored from a free kick. Another good display, but again we could have scored more goals.

Nomads Reserve Team Line Up:-

NOMADS RESRVES OPENED THEIR CLWYD LEAGUE CAMPAIGN ON SATURDAY WITH A COMMANDING VICTORY:- A great start for the reserves and nice to see five different scorers. Manager Darren Wynne was delighted with the performance. One other positive point to note, is that there were no yellow cards.

Managers report:-

We played very well in the first half and were unfortunate to be only 1-0 up, with Ben Howarth scoring a cracking 25 yard drive after we had 3 chances cleared off the line.

The second half we were rewarded with a penalty whitch was converted by Bobby Ragget. James Gambino then raced past the defence to slot home our 3rd. Then unfortunatly, Sam Jones our keeper got a bang to his leg, but bravely tried to carry on. They capitalised on this when they shot over Sam who couldn't jump because of his injury. He was carried off the pitch and replaced by Rob Shaw. We then killed the game off, with Tom Lloyd and Bryn Preece both scoring good goals. I was very pleased by the way we played good passing football and we should have won by more.

Nomads Reserve Team Line Up:-

Sam Jones, Ben Howarth, Jay Catton, Bobby Ragget (capt), Rob Shaw, Jamie Cross, Tom Lloyd, Dave Bamford, James Gambino, Marc Gunther, Bryn Preece, Subs: Carl Cooke, Ben Elios, Ross Abercrombie.

HAWARDEN RANGERS 3, CONNAH'S QUAY RESERVES 0
August 17 2007

Manager Darren Wynne's Report:-

In our final friendly our inexperience probably cost us against a very good side

The first 15 mins we played our usual passing game and we were on top but we fell into their trap of getting involved with their players instead of concentrating on our own game and they started to get into the game.  We got to half time 0 - 0  and felt we could win the game. 5 mins after the re-start, they scored after some sloppy defending. Nomads tried to get back in to the game when Carl Cooke missed a good opportunity to score, but they broke away  to score their second goal. With our boys tiring, Hawarden got their third just before the final whistle.

Not the result we wanted, a bit naive but at least we kept going. Hopefully the players realise we must concentrate in every game and not let the opposition intimidate us. We must also learn not to rely on the Referee for protection (the ref was poor in this game)

Nomads Reserve Team Line Up:-
Luke ?, Ross Abercrombie, Jay Catton, Bobby Ragget, Ben Howarth, Carl Cooke, Tom Lloyd, Dave Bamford, Bryn  Preece, Jim Gambino, Marc Gunther.  Subs:-  Rob Shaw, Ben Elias, Phil Killer, Tom Price

 August 12 2007

Manager Darren Wynne's report:-

A very testing game against an experienced Isa team. Nomads dominated the first half and got rewarded in the 30 mins when Bobby Ragget rose above the Isa defence to head home a fine cross from Bryn Preece. By Half time at 1-0,  we should have been 3-0 up.

In the second half, they started to put some strong challenges in, which resulted in Carl Rowlands, being taken off  needing stitches to his ear. We played good football and got our second halfway through the second half, when James Gambino lobbed the keeper, after a nice through from Tom Lloyd. Then, with 5 mins remaining, Marc Gunther scored a fantastic volley, giving their keeper no chance.

It was a great team performance, in which we continued playing good passing  football, when they were getting stuck in. For his first game in the Reserve Team, Tom Lloyd had a gret game in the centre of midfield.

Nomads Reserve Team Line Up:-
Sam Jones, Ross Abercrombie, Jay Catton, Bobby Ragget, Ben Howarth, Carl Cooke, Dave Bamford, Tom Lloyd, James Gambino, Marc Gunther, Bryn Preece.  Subs:- Ben Elias, Phil Killer, Rob Shaw, Luke ?

ELLESMERE PORT 0, CONNAH'S QUAY NOMADS RESERVES 1
27th July 2007

Manager Darren Wynne's report:-

A very tight game in which both sides played some nice football. James Gambino had a chance in the first half but their keeper made a fine save. Just before half time, Sam Jones made a great save, diving low to his left to palm a fine effort around the post. at half time it was 0-0.

In the second half, we managed to make a breakthrough with 10 mins remaining. Marc Gunther took a long throw, which Gambino glanced towards the goal, It deflected off their defender, into the net. They tried to get back into the game, but our defence stood firm. A very pleasing performance again. Playing good passing football all through the team and importantly, a clean sheet.

Nomads Reserve Team Line Up:-
Sam Jones, Ben Howarth, Jay Catton, Bobby Ragget, Rob Shaw, Jamie Cross, David Bamford, Carl Cooke, James Gambino, Marc Gunther, Bryn Preece. Subs:-  Reece Davies, Carl Wilson

JOHNSTOWN FC 4, CONNAH'S QUAY NOMADS RESERVES 4:-

Manager Darren Wynne's report:-

In what was our first friendly, we played some nice football against a good side. Bryn Preece put us into the lead with a good drive from the edge of the box. Then we were caught a bit square at the back and they equalized. Just before half time, Dave Bamford drilled a low shot past the Johnstown keeper. At half time we led 2-1.

Early in the second half, an unfortunate slip let them back in, but 2 mins later and we were back in front. A great cross by Jamie Cross, was met perfectly for Marc Gunther to head home. Having most of the play, they scored a great goal past the diving Sam Jones. With 10 mins remaining, James Gambino was brought down in the box. He picked himself up to cooly slot home the resulting penalty. With the players now tiring, Gambino had the chance to kill off the visitors, but struck the crossbar. In the dying mins, Johnstown were awarded a free kick from which they equalized again, for the fourth time.

It was a good start with plenty of positives to come  out of the game.

Nomads Reserve Team Line Up:-
