Tomi was also quoted saying in this weeks Cambrian news “I’m an Aber boy, I played for Town for many years and was the manager there for 6 or 7 seasons, but that was 21 years ago and I’ve moved on a lot since then.“I wish Aber well in the Welsh Cup Final against Bangor City and hope they win, they have been waiting for success at this level for a long time."

CHRIS MAXWELL MAKES HIS WREXHAM 1st TEAM DEBUT
By wivey - April 17 2009
CHRIS MADE HIS FIRST TEAM DEBUT FOR WREXHAM IN EASTER MONDAYS 1-0 HOME DEFEAT AGAINST ALTRINCHAM:- Chris was handed his first-team debut after on-loan shot-stopper Gunnar Nielsen broke a thumb in the reversal by the same scoreline at Oxford 48 hours earlier.
Nomads signed Chris at the start of the season on a six-month loan deal from Wrexham and he played 20 WPL games in his successful spell with Nomads. Whilst on-loan with the Nomads, he was selected for the Under 23 Semi Pro side and won his cap as a substitute against Finland in Llanelli in November 2008. Chris returned to Wrexham in January 09 after his loan had finished.
Chris signed his first professional contract with the Dragons in June 2008, having spent two previous years in the Wrexham Academy. The Llandudno-born youngster has won 6 Under 17 Wales Caps (2005/06 - 2006/07) and 7 Under 19 Caps (2006/07 to Present).
Wrexham Manager Dean Saunders said he was pleased with how Chris performed for Wrexham in the Altrincham game.
" I picked Chris in goal and I thought he played really well. I knew it was a risk but we can't get relegated. It was a bit of a mix-up for the goal again from the set-piece, I think Aurelien headed it into his own net. These things happen to you when it is going like it is going for us. I learnt that if Chris is required I can put him in. But he has to keep working hard."

Report from the Evening Leader:-
Maxwell aims to be the number one
Maxwell - Ready to take his chance with both hands.
Published Date: 16 April 2009
CHRIS MAXWELL is hoping to become Wrexham's first choice goalkeeper next season.
The 17-year-old, who has come through the ranks at the club, made his first-team debut in Monday's 1-0 defeat against Altrincham at The Racecourse, taking over from on-loan custodian Gunnar Nielsen who broke a thumb in the reversal at Oxford United 48 hours earlier.
Wrexham, who are now unable to reach the play-offs, have three games remaining, starting with Saturday's trip to Kettering Town.
And Wales under 21 international Maxwell is hoping to figure in those matches and stake his claim for the number one jersey next term: "Hopefully I play at Kettering," he said today.
"I have set the standard now, and hopefully I play even better than Monday. I want to keep my place in the team and play the last three games. It will be a good experience, and I am always looking to next season"
.
"If I perform well, you never know what the gaffer may be thinking for next season. I could be first choice, who knows. The aim is to be number one, you have to set your sights high. Hopefully three games will give me more experience and set me up. Whatever game you put in front of me I will just perform to the best I can."
Maxwell, who got the not ahead of Gavin Ward and Anthony Williams for the visit of Altrincham, was thrilled to have been given the opportunity by manager Dean Saunders.
"I only found out on the day of the game I was playing," said Maxwell.
"I did bits in training on Sunday and I am always ready to play. But until you are named in the team, you can't take anything for granted. I found out I was in a couple of hours before the game and was delighted. I have been at Wrexham since the age of ten so Monday was a special day for me. My mum's side of the family are from Wrexham and they were all there."
"After nine years at the club, it was great to come through the system and play for the first team. I want to stay there, hold down my place and help Wrexham get back into the Football League next season."
Maxwell added: "It has been disappointing, a massive blow for the players and the club not going up this season. We know what is expected and it will be no different next season."
Maxwell, handed a first professional contract last summer before spending the first half of the season on loan at Welsh Premier League outfit, GAP Connah's Quay, admitted he was not nervous about making his senior Wrexham debut.
Although pleased with his performance, he was disappointed with the result and the goal which came from a mix-up in the Reds' back-line.
"I am always confident in myself and knew I would be okay – I was not nervous at all. I have played reserve team football, on loan at Connah's Quay and for Wales under 21s, and I know what I am capable of. I was just excited."
"I took a few early crosses, it is good to get on the ball early in any game. It settles yourself and the team down. I was happy with how it went. I really enjoyed it and the fans were great."
"It would have been even better if the result had gone our way but these things happen. It was a mix-up for the goal, the ball came into the box and I shouted for it. It is one of those things, but apart from that it went well."
Saunders has been delighted with Maxwell's progress this season, rewarding the keeper with a new contract that runs until the end of next season.
And Maxwell admitted Saunders has had a big influence on his game: "I was definitely happy to sign the new deal," he said. "The manager has come in and has transformed me as a player, continually improving me. I have come on leaps and bounds.
"It is always nice to have someone who rates you and hopefully I keep improving. I will keep taking the advice on board from the staff."
Maxwell also believes his loan spell at Connah's Quay has been beneficial to his career, with the keeper recently winning his second Wales U-21 cap.
"I don't think I would have played on Monday, and be the player I am, if I did not have that experience at Connah's Quay," he said. "I enjoyed it there and will always thank the staff there for that."
"Hopefully I will continue to play first team football at Wrexham and will be selected for Wales under 21s again. I want to be playing in the qualifiers, it is brilliant to play for your country."
STEVE AND THE NOMADS NEED TIME TO ADJUST
By The Evening Leader - July 18 2008
New Gap Connah's Quay manager Steve O'Shaughnessy believes The Nomads will need time to gel after a summer of instability.

STEVE O’SHAUGHNESSY
Having brought in five new faces and his own back room staff following the takeover by Gap Personnel, O'Shaughnessy is targeting a steady improvement on last season.
"Everything at the club is new and because of that we will look to make steady improvements this season," he said.
"The squad is looking good, I have brought in some good footballers who I know have the right ability and character to succeed at the club, but it will take time for everyone and every aspect to gel together. The new owners are committed to making sure we have the best training facilities in the league and there are coaches available for away trips. They have given me their word that they will try and do whatever they can for the club. I was impressed with what was at the club already and there are some good individuals here. We are still on the lookout for new players but if they don't materialise then the squad we have is in good shape."
After the takeover from Gap Personnel, The Nomads were installed as 25/1 shots for the title but O'Shaughnessy insists he heads in to the new campaign under no pressure.
"We just want to take one game at a time," highlighted the former Leeds United apprentice.
"As I have said, this season is for steady progress with the aim for the future to get in to the 'Super Ten'. The odds do not make a difference to me because they are based on the takeover before we have kicked a ball. I will be making sure we take one game at a time because it is easy to look at games in the future and think about points to be won, the problem is that it hardly ever happens like that."
Meanwhile, O'Shaughnessy has raided former club Caernarfon Town again this week.
Following the signings of defenders Lee Bamber and Phillip Clarke, O'Shaughnessy has added Keiron Quinn and Craig Vernon to The Nomads squad. Quinn is a talented centre midfielder, who was released by Wrexham just three years ago while Vernon is a teenage goalkeeper, who was formerly with Chester City Youth.
On the coaching side, it has been announced that former Rhyl coach Lee Coathup will not be joining the club due to personal reasons. Instead, former Newtown manager Roger Preece will be amongst the coaching staff at the club, joining Director of Football Levi Lloyd from the old Cymru Alliance side, GAP Queens Park.
CHRIS Williams has signed again for the Nomads this coming season after the transfer confusion was resolved.
Bungle still plans to go to the USA if his visa application is granted and the small-print with Holy Names University is agreed.
Kicks FC apparently made a general enquiry about the international transfer regulations and this was misinterpreted as a request for international clearance, but Bungle had never signed any documents.
So the problems resulted from a genuine misunderstanding and the club would like to praise Kicks FC Wallsend for the quick, efficient and courteous way they have helped to resolve the matter. Gap Connah's Quay Officials have been very impressed with everything about the rising Tyneside club and look to build a playing relationship with them in the near future.

TRANSFER WRANGLE OVER BUNGLE

Williams in action for Nomads on Saturday in a pre-season game at TNS. |
GAP Connah's Quay are embroiled in a transfer wrangle over captain Chris Williams with Kicks FC Wallsend and the FAW.
The league's official website claimed on Friday that Williams had signed for the Tyneside Amateur League outfit, which came as a shock to both Nomads and the player, who said: "I have trained with Kicks on one occasion to keep myself fit in preparation for me to go to America on my four-year scholarship, as I am unable to attend training anywhere else during the week.
"I am 100% committed to Steve O'Shaughnessey and Connah's Quay Nomads until I go."
Williams, who is known throughout the Welsh Premier as Bungle and has been working in the North East for a sales promotion company, denies that he has ever signed a registration form, but Nomads' secretary Trevor Green confirmed that the FAW has received and granted a request for international clearance from Kicks.
"I am surprised that the FAW has agreed to the request, because I am under the impression that they are first obliged to contact the player's existing club, and we have received no such request nor agreed to the player's release," said Green today.
"Chris is adamant that he has never signed a player registration form and we are asking for a copy from the FA so that we can verify the signature."
In the meantime, Williams has signed for the Nomads for next season and played in a 5-0 behind-closed-doors friendly defeat at The New Saints on Saturday morning.

NOMAD BUNGLE DENIES TOON SWITCH
CONN
 |
| Chris Williams is staying at Nomads for the time being. |
AH'S QUAY central defender Chris Williams has denied that he is making a move to Kicks FC Wallsend, who play in the Tyneside Amateur League.
Williams says: "I have been working up in Wallsend for some time and have trained with Kicks on one occasion to keep myself fit in preparation for me to go to America on my four-year scholarship, as I am unable to attend training anywhere else during the week.
"I am 100% committed to Steve O'Shaughnessey and Connah's Quay Nomads until I go."
New Nomads' manager Steve O'Shaughnessy was hopeful that "Bungle" would start the season on Deeside, where he was captain last season, before a planned move to study in the USA.
Williams is planning to take-up a four-year football scholarship at the Holy Names University in California, saying it is "a dream come true" that more than made up for his disappointment at missing out on trials with Millwall and Tranmere Rovers due to two serious injuries.
He joined Connah's Quay from Flint Town United in 2004 to claim a regular berth in the centre of the Nomads' defence and scored 14 goals from 116 Welsh Premier appearances for the Deeside outfit, where he was joint leading scorer last season, mainly from the penalty spot.
