Seaton Carew 10's Tournament

Seaton Carew 10's Tournament

By P. Lithgo - April 14 2011
Seaton Carew Rugby Club will be holding a 10’s Tournament on the Saturday 25th June 2011.

Seaton 10's started in 2009 as an in-house tournament as a tribute to Billy Lithgo's half century. The day was great success and we thought we should have an annual Tournament. 2010 was notquite the same - still a good day was had by both players and spectators.

This year we would like to invite more teams to take part. It's a great way to get the players backout training/playing. We would like to restrict the tournament to teams at RFU level 8 and 9.The tournament is aimed at kick starting the new season and the aim is to have a few decent gamesof rugby with a bit of fun thrown in (Tour Spirit).

The entry fee is £15. (Each team will receive a £5 refund on the day). Please complete and returnthe attached entry form along with the entry fee before 10 May 2011. Only a limited amount ofteams for the tournament so first in basis applies.

Meeting time will be 10.00 hrs with first kick-off planned for 11.00hrsFinish time will depend of the number of teams entered.

Rules for the 10’s Maximum squad is 15 Players (extra players may go to other teams but this must be sorted beforethe start).Playing5 Forwards and 5 backs with roll on subs.10 minute each half with a quick turnover for halftime (2Min)

Scrums are contested. Forwards are not allowed to pick up from the scrum- only the scrum half toplay the ball. Opposite scrum half must stay on his own side until the ball leaves the scrum.
Line-outs are the same as normal.

Conversions and penalty kicks for points will by dropkick.

Any changes or updates will be sent to the team manager who will need to give contact details onthe entry form attached

Good point 'in the dark'. Next year we must publicise the event more effectively. I lay all the blame on the club publicity officer. Anyway, start time about 10.30a.m. Scheduled 29 ties. Final hopefully, if all goes well, about 5.30p.m. Food and drink - all reasonably priced- will be available from the can bar and barbecue.
