Having survived a torrid opening ten minutes (in which Seaham were unlucky not to have scored ) Seaton returned the compliment and were able to continually disrupt the opposition set pieces. After a five minute period of total domination, the ball was deftly handled by the three-quarters enabling their right winger to score the opening try. Fifteen minutes later, Seaton secured possession from a lineout and Craig Moffatt ran a perfect line to score under the posts. Lee Kidson secured the restart ball and initiated some fast moving rugby, involving both backs and forwards, which culminated in a try for Kevin Tumilty. Moffatt was successful with all three conversions and Seaton went into the interval with a 21-0 lead. Two minutes into the second half, slick handling by the backs enabled Jeff Storey to score the fourth try and three minutes later, following intelligent interplay between Storey and Moffatt, the latter touched down for try number five. Jason Norman's strong running breaks had been a feature throughout the game and he was rewarded with a try on the fifty five minute mark. Seaton stretched their lead when they gained quality possession from a scrum and the backs neatly handled the ball to Moffatt, who completed his hat trick with a speedy inside break. The scoreline did not reflect the contribution made by the home side, who provided stiff opposition throughout, and their hard work culminated in a converted try mid way through the half. The final minutes saw increasing dominance by Seaton's pack and, from a disrupted scrum, the ball went through several hands and Norman touched down for try number eight. Moffatt kicked a further five conversions to record an hundred percent success rate for the day
