East Retford Rugby Union Football Club
Presentation
Evening
Friday 8th June the
rugby club held their annual presentation at the Market Hotel.
The evening consisted of a meal followed by the presentation of annual
awards for various categories.
These were as follows:
1st Team award, this
is awarded by the captain to the player who he thinks has been most valuable
over the season and most missed when injured and this year it went to Robert
Gourlay.
2nd Team award,
awarded by the 2nd team captain went to Richard Thorneloe.
Most Improved Player of the
season went to Liam Walter.
Junior Player of the season
awarded to the player under nineteen who managed to break into the 1st
fifteen on most occasions and was awarded to Sam Followell.
Senior Player of the season
awarded to the player who has played the most consistent rugby throughout the
season and was awarded to Simon Palmer.
Mike Farrah award is presented
for the person who the club see has done the most for the club off the field
throughout the season and this was awarded to the youngest person ever to
receive the award and was awarded to Liam Street.
Player’s player was won with the
most votes going to first team captain Iain Balmer.
A new award was given this year
to the player who had received the most Man of the Match awards throughout the
season and went to Ron Hinitt.
A special engraved tankard was
awarded to the best supporter over the past two seasons this went to Howard
Lees.
The Top Try Scorers sponsored by
the Retford Times went for the 1st team for the second year running
to Chris Trenham and the 2nd team to Kevin Pattenden.
Lastly we awarded the seasons
Donkey awards given to the players who just made to many errors of judgement.
The first one went to the man who had the most sin bins of the season and
actually ran out of petrol on the way to a match this being Keith Dalby the next
one also given in fun to a man who seems to have an aversion to cartoon
characters collecting his very own Scooby Doo going to Jon Herrick.
A good night was had by all as
they were well looked after by the staff of the Market Hotel and when the club
went on to collect their Seal of Approval the following day it can only be
classed as another successful weekend for the club.
