Presentation Evening

Friday 8th June the rugby club held their annual presentation at the Market Hotel.  The evening consisted of a meal followed by the presentation of annual awards for various categories.

These were as follows:

1st Team award, this is awarded by the captain to the player who he thinks has been most valuable over the season and most missed when injured and this year it went to Robert Gourlay.

2nd Team award, awarded by the 2nd team captain went to Richard Thorneloe.

Most Improved Player of the season went to Liam Walter.

Junior Player of the season awarded to the player under nineteen who managed to break into the 1st fifteen on most occasions and was awarded to Sam Followell.

Senior Player of the season awarded to the player who has played the most consistent rugby throughout the season and was awarded to Simon Palmer.

Mike Farrah award is presented for the person who the club see has done the most for the club off the field throughout the season and this was awarded to the youngest person ever to receive the award and was awarded to Liam Street.

Player’s player was won with the most votes going to first team captain Iain Balmer.

A new award was given this year to the player who had received the most Man of the Match awards throughout the season and went to Ron Hinitt.

A special engraved tankard was awarded to the best supporter over the past two seasons this went to Howard Lees.

The Top Try Scorers sponsored by the Retford Times went for the 1st team for the second year running to Chris Trenham and the 2nd team to Kevin Pattenden.

Lastly we awarded the seasons Donkey awards given to the players who just made to many errors of judgement.  The first one went to the man who had the most sin bins of the season and actually ran out of petrol on the way to a match this being Keith Dalby the next one also given in fun to a man who seems to have an aversion to cartoon characters collecting his very own Scooby Doo going to Jon Herrick.

A good night was had by all as they were well looked after by the staff of the Market Hotel and when the club went on to collect their Seal of Approval the following day it can only be classed as another successful weekend for the club.
