NEWI Cefn Druids’ squad has been bolstered ahead of Friday’s season opener against The New Saints with a double signing.

Versatile defender and midfielder Mark Powell has joined from Rhyl and the signature of young winger Kevin Holsgrove has been confirmed.

Powell, 32, has been at Belle Vue for six seasons, playing in each of the Lilywhites’ European matches, and was with TNS for a further two campaigns.

Holsgrove, 19, has impressed joint player-managers Lee Jones and Waynne Phillips with his performances in the last two friendlies and on the training pitch.

Jones said: “Kevin is an excellent prospect and we are delighted to have captured him and Mark.

“They have both looked great in training and have looked like they have both fitted in well.

“It’s a boost ahead of Friday.”
