Porthmadog 5 – 1 Cwmbran Town

A sending off in the first 20 minutes contributed to a big defeat for the Crows in North Wales.

Cwmbran lined up with young striker Zaki Misbah up front with the newly re-acquired Martyn Phillips from Newport YMCA. And to correct a previous error, Michael Binning continued in defence, as it was actually Tom Billing who transferred to Aberystwyth in mid-week.

The game started at pace with Les Davies providing the opening for Gareth Parry to put Port ahead inside two minutes after a Danny Hughes shot had been blocked.

The second Port goal came from Carl Owen who smartly lobbed keeper Gareth Wesson after seven minutes.

The third goal was from the spot – Mike Foster being the scorer. A bad tackle from Nicky Ward halted Owen’s path to goal in the 17th minute and referee Duncan had little option but to produce a red card.

Parry added his second with a long-range effort to put Port 4-0 up, but Simon Heal pulled one back just after the half hour mark.

After the break, Wesson performed heroics in goal to keep Port out, but he couldn't prevent Les Davies making it 5-1 with a volley from inside the box.

The Crows visit out-of-sorts Rhyl in the Premier Cup on Tuesday, followed by a trip to struggling Airbus UK on Saturday.
