The Visa Paralympic World Cup is an annual competition, with this being the third, for elite disabled sportspersons and is held in Manchester. This year’s event takes place between May 7th-13th in three venues around the city, with wheelchair basketball, cycling, swimming and athletics being the events on display. >

The Visa Paralympic World Cup is an annual competition, with this being the third, for elite disabled sportspersons and is held in Manchester. This year’s event takes place between May 7th-13th in three venues around the city, with wheelchair basketball, cycling, swimming and athletics being the events on display.

 

The Schedule for the week is:

 

Wheelchair Basketball – The Velodrome

Monday 7th, Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th

 

Track Cycling – The Velodrome

Friday 11th

 

Swimming – Aquatics Centre

Saturday 12th (Heats – 10:00-12:00, Finals – 15:00-18:00)

 

Athletics – Regional Arena

Sunday 13th

 

The BBC will be showing coverage of the event on BBC2 on Sunday May 13th from 15:45-17:45, though keep an eye on the BBC’s interactive coverage in case any of the competition appears on there.

 

Four ex-Dragons DSC simmers will be competing in the Games; David Roberts, Liz Johnson, Gareth Duke and Nyree Lewis.

There will be two 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle events which will be swam as Multi-disability races whereby the swimmer that gets closest to or breaks their classes World Record by the largest margin of time will win the race. The other races will be separated into the designated disability classifications.
