The first victory in the recent good form came away at Caernarfon, where Airbus gave a brilliant performance and went home with a 3-0 win. The goals came from Macintosh and Andrews, but the overall performance by the team was exceptional.
Then, on Friday 25th February, the greatest result in Airbus Uks history happened. The Wingmakers entertained the current league Champions Rhyl, and this was always going to be a tough match. However, Airbus had a game plan and stuck to it, playing a defensive formation.
As expected Rhyl had most of the possession, but when Airbus held on till half time the bumper crowd sensed something special was on the cards. In the second half the Airbus players gave the best 45 minutes of football and heroic defending ever seen at the Airfields ground. Having only 2 attacks, Airbus had to efficient in front of goal, and they were, with Leech scoring with his only chance of the game. The final 30 minutes was a real backs to the wall job, but Airbus hung on to claim a crucial and unlikely 3 points.
2 days later and the Wingmakers were back in action, away at Llanelli. Despite being 2-0 up, Airbus eventually took a well earned point from the game which ended 2-2. This was not ideal, but avoiding defeat was the main objective and so it was not a bad result.
Now, with 8 games to go it looks like Airbus may well beat the drop. We have given ourselves a fighting chance due to the hard work and determined attitude of all involved.
