Airbus take a last gasp point in injury time
By steve hughes - December 13 2004
The wingmakers earned a point following 2 late goals at home to the Connah's Quay Nomads. It was the least Airbus deserved after trailing 3-1 at the break. >
The resilient Airbus side never gave up hope in this local derby and dominated the entire second half. They did leave it late though and scored 2 goals in the last 10 minutes.

The first half started evenly with Nomads having the better chances early on. It was Airbus who took the lead though after 30 minutes when Simon Andrews latched on to a through ball and lobbed the keeper from outside the penalty area.

However Nomads were level within minutes when a mistake at the back let in Stuart Rain who set up Mutton for an easy goal. Then Nomads were in front minutes later, as Dodd was harshly adjudged to have fouled in the area and a penalty was awarded. This time it was Rains turn and he slotted home to make it 2-1. The third Nomads goal followed shortly after when a good cross was delivered from the right and Rain stooped low to glance a header past Whitfield.

Airbus were much better in the second half and the vast majority of the 45 minutes was spent with Nomads defending. Chances came and went, and it looked like the Wingmakers would once again come away with nil points from a good display.

Then with 10 minutes left Reg Smart found the bottom corner as he met a cross first time to give Airbus hope. The final 10 minutes were frantic with Airbus making good chances but not taking them. However, 2 minutes into injury time Steve Hughes fired in a 25 yard spectacular volley which left the Nomads keeper stranded, and earned Airbus their second home point of the season.

The Wingmakers will now take confidence from this great comeback, and hopefully pick up more points next week against Newtown.
