Glasogw Bulls winger McPhail started both European Nations Cup matches in October, scoring with his first touch at senior level in the win over Wales at Old Anniesland. The majority of the squad have been capped by Scotland A with teenage second row forward Ross Marshall from Arran also making the full squad this year without being capped.
Scotland have also named some experienced English-based players: utility back Mark Webster of Thatto Heath and Liverpool Buccaneers and stand-off Michael Murphy, who spent time with Halifax and Chorley last season, are among several players facing their last year with Scotland Students having already graduated. Also included are Huddersfield Sharks hooker Bobby Bahadori (younger brother of Underbank Rangers forward Kov Bahadori) and former Doncaster pro David Ford.
Australia lost to France in their opening tour match but beat England 18-12 at Blackheath on Wednesday night and play Wales on Sunday. Kick off at Raeburn Place is 2pm.
