Wainwright returns Big Guns Return For Wales Clash
By Gavin Willacy - November 2 2007
Scotland coach Steve McCormack has brought his big guns back for the World Cup qualifier against Wales on Sunday as past or present Super League players Danny Brough, Paul Jackson, Oliver Wilkes, Mike Wainwright, Neil Lowe and Andrew Henderson all return after missing the defeat in France. >
McCormack was always going to bring back Brough, Jackson and Henderson, but has also opted to recall veteran forwards Wainwright and Lowe, and experience Wilkes – who moved from Widnes to Wakefield yesterday - to face the Welsh pack. There are places in the 20-man squad for all six debutants from last week – Edinburgh’s Andy Todd and David Lynn, second-rower Mark Slatter, younger Henderson brother Kevin, and half-back pairing Richie Hawkyard and Lee Paterson – although the squad will be reduced from 20 to a matchday 17 on Sunday. There are no places in the 20 for Alex Szostak, Dave McConnell and Jack Howieson, who all played in the Perpignan defeat.
