That means a meeting with France in Canberra on Sunday 26 October – the second game of the whole tournament – almost a year to the day after the two teams meet in Perpignan a week on Saturday in a warm-up match. The second group game is against Fiji in Blue Tongue Stadium on the Central Coast on Wednesday 5 November.
If the Bravehearts do not beat Wales over the two legs – they are seven points ahead after winning in Bridgend – but qualify through the repechage on 9 and 14 November, they will be in Group C, based in west Sydney. They would then open their campaign against Tonga at Penrith Panthers on Friday 31 October 2008 before playing Ireland or Lebanon at Parramatta Eels’ stadium on Wednesday 5 November.
If Scotland were to win their group they would play the semi-final qualifier against the Pool Two winners at the new Gold Coast Titans’ stadium on Monday 10 November. Pool Two features France, Fiji and the Euro A Pool 2 winners: Lebanon or Ireland.
If they finish second they would head to the Queensland bush to play a ranking match at Rockhampton on Saturday 8 November and if they finish bottom of the group, they would play back in Penrith on Sunday 9 November.
The semi-finals are in SYDNEY on SATURDAY 15 NOVEMBER and in BRISBANE on SUNDAY 16 NOVEMBER with the WORLD CUP FINAL in BRISBANE on SATURDAY 22 NOVEMBER 2008.
