Now its not often that you will find me hurling a compliment in the direction of FCG club captain Andrew "the great one" Furniss and as much as it hurts the likes of Richard Rutter, Ben Duerden and myself to do so, this month I believe it is absolutely necessary.
As the main writer of this website, Drew was never going to let it be known that he has won the player of the month award for July (although i wouldn't put it past him, this is a man who runs to the other end after dismissing a batsmen shouting ""COME ONNNNN, IVE ABSOLUTELY DONE HIM THERE SON....WHAT A BEAUUUUUUTY!!!!"") However I think its important that we make sure his effort doesn't go unnoticed.
I firmly believe that a certain amount of credit goes to myself and Nuts for serving hours on end of absolute cannon fodder to the great one in his own back garden.I believe he once batted for 2 hours 17 minutes and was drinking lager for the entire innings. We also play off ten yards and bowl as fast as we can.....but moving on..................
Vernons last week finished off a superb month for furner (this is starting to get painful.). 6 wickets and 100 in a game where the other ten of us forgot to turn up and participate.
A fantastic effort Drew, congratulations fella, keep up the good work
