TECH v Redcar
TECH will once again try to belatedly get their season underway
tomorrow when Redcar are the visitors to Grayfields (KO 3pm)
After the major disappointments of having to cancel their
previous games it is vitally important for all concerned that tomorrows game
goes ahead. In TECH's case in order that they can restore some normality to a
difficult situation and for the rest of Durham & Northumberland Division 2 so
that they are not disrupted by games being cancelled.
As in previous weeks lots of work has been going on in the
background in an effort to try and make sure that all available players turn up
and hopefully those efforts will pay off this time around. As in previous weeks
a solid hard core of the players were in attendance at the Wednesday
evening training session with Howie Murray, a session that this week was
enhanced due to Hartlepool Athletic players also being in attendance. After
discussions between the clubs it was agreed that both sets of players would
benefit from the increased training numbers and hopefully this will now
become a regular arrangement.
After struggling for numbers in the past few weeks it is highly
encouraging to see some faces again becoming available this week. Whilst there
are again some players who cannot turn out due to work commitments it is good to
see that the likes of Stephen Clayton and Guy Hunt will be involved tomorrow. A
new face in the squad to face Redcar is Mark Sawyer who has joined the club
after being with Seaton and Rovers in the past. Although he is a newcomer to
TECH there are plenty of family ties to the club as both the centres father and
uncle previously represented the Grayfields outfit. The club would like to think
that others with similar ties or indeed others who have left recently to try
their hand elsewhere may also come back into the fold in the near future. Whilst
no - one would criticise them for trying to play at the best level they can if
they haven't been able to make the breakthrough at their new clubs it would be
nice to see them return to bolster the efforts of their old team mates. In their
current situation the most important thing for TECH is that they get a team onto
the field and a game played. Cancelling games due to player shortages often
means that as well as having points deducted they still have to play the game at
a later date, but if they turn out a side, even one containing guests /
unregistered players whilst they may forfeit the points they due not get others
deducted.
For this game TECH have named the following squad from
which they will name their side. They would also be happy to welcome any other
players who feel they would like to help out on the day.
TECH v Redcar
From, Dove, Hamilton, Cooper, Ladyman, Thompson, Skinner, Hunt,
Clayton, Wells, Brown, Stockdale, Cheshire, Parker, Corrigan, Sawyer, Foster,
Coutts, Bristow.
To be played at Home. KO 3pm. Meet 12.30pm. Any Cry Offs please
contact John Dove ASAP on Friday evening.

Great display from the 16 man squad, ok so we lost 10-35 but we finished the better side with only 14 men on the field, roll on next week! :oD

Just to echo Dave's comments, thanks to all the lads for an excellent effort throughout. Redcar came to Grayfields having won their 3 league games to date but were not allowed an easy afternoon in any aspect of the game.
The team spirit displayed by everyone was highly noticeable. Only a small step I know but let's build on this week for the games ahead.
Don't forget training on Wednedsay, the positive effects of Howies' sessions so far were clearly displayed during Saturday's game.

JUST HAS POSTED A MESSAGE ON YOIUR SITE, I HAVE REPLIED AND JUST THOUGHT I WOULD REPEAT IT ON THIS THREAD IN THE HOPE SOMEONE WITH SENSE SEES IT.
OZOB,
FOR WHAT ITS WORTH YOU ARE 100% RIGHT.....
I HAVE JUST CHECKED WITH THE RFU RULES AND A REF.
So can someone at TDSOB do the same.
You did not have to have -2pts in any game.
The game would of been able to go ahead with uncontested srums, and yes you lose whatever the score, but you dont get -2pts or have to play the game at a later date.
Also the 30 plus guys and supporters get to see a game of rugby.
Get it sorted lads.
(tec sec, front row leg end, what the fudge)
Good look with the rest of the season, we should not see another -2pts then?Bold Text
