Training for senior players takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 7 p.m. prompt.
New season training at Ilkley Rugby Club starts Tuesday 1st July 2008
Tuesday 3rd July is the date set for Ilkley Rugby Club to resume training for the season ahead.
Hamish Pratt (Head Coach), Chris Steele, Steve Quinn and Dave Duxbury are there to make your skill level and fitness training as enjoyable experience as possible.
It is, however, only the players can make the club’s commitment pay. That is by showing their commitment too.
That means turning up to every possible session.
In order to get the all the senior teams to the skill and fitness levels required for the highly competitive Yorkshire League one and the new league for the 2nd XV, HP and Dux have devised an eight week programme of game related sessions. There will be fitness work, but variety is the theme for all the sessions in that eight week programme. Every session will be a component piece in a jigsaw culminating at the start of the season. Missing out on early sessions will mean that vital components have been missed.
With the first team wanting to go better than their third place last term and the second fifteen playing in the Yorkshire top league for second teams... and competition for places in the third team and veterans team you should get yourselves straight down to Stacks Field on the 3rd July. Fitter players are better players. Better players get the top places in the side.
Of course players have lives beyond rugby. Ilkley Rugby Club is an amateur club with a highly professional ethos on and off the field.
Training will commence on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. prompt and will finish at 8.30 p.m. at the latest. The catering team will, as usual, provide some quality food after Thursday training in the build up and during the season.
