In idyllic conditions for playing Rugby, new boys Hartlepool RFC put on a brave performance against a more experienced Warriors side. Although West won the game convincingly it was noted by many parents the attitude and sheer resilience of the Hartlepool team who played the game out to the final whistle.
Not so long ago the Warriors were on the receiving end of defeats like this but individual perseverance, raising fitness levels and a commitment to training has turned the side around and are now in a position to challenge the top sides in the county.
On Sunday the West team were quicker to react as the game unfolded, arriving first to the ruck,s and mauls, allowing other team mates to prepare for the next phase leaving Hartlepool no time to reorganize their defenses.
The Warriors domination of the game meant their style of expansive play would lead to an abundance of tries, a total of thirteen were ran in by several different players. Ramsey three, Blades three, Harrison two, Johnson two, Cookland one , N Myers one , and E Myers one. Smithies converting just under half of these.
The Warrior’s left as victors but are convinced that Hartlepool U15’s have the right passion and dedication to soon become formidable opposition .

Thanks for the game yesterday. Despite the result our Under 15s will take alot from the game and we hope it will prove to be a valuable learning curve. Experience and class shone through in the end but it was just as enjoyable to watch our lads keep going with heads held high right till the final whistle.
Im sure we will provide a sterner test in the return fixture.
Cheers again.
HRFC U15s.

Thanks very much for the game. Hopefully when the return fixture comes round it will be a much tighter game.
Some silky skills were out and with handling and passing out of the tackle like that I don't think that many teams will be able to handle you.
Good luck for the rest of your fixtures.

As the score was 44 - 0 at half time I mentioned to the ref about stopping at 50. The ref went and asked Hartlepool what they would like to do and they valiantley agreed to continue if 50 was reached.

Hi
I coach at Chester and, as part of a major fundraising effort to enable us to take our boys on a Southern Hemisphere tour in two years time, I am running our second festival of rugby over the first May Bank Holiday weekend next year.
Last seasons inaugural festival was a great success with all six participating teams giving great feedback and all confirming their attendance for next years event. At the moment, I have 11 teams (aiming for 16) who I have spoken to and who have indicated a desire to join us in 2009.
We have chosen this date as, this last year, a number of teams were unable to attend due to County Cup finals taking place towards the end of April. We are trying to keep the standard of rugby at the same high level as last year and as such are only inviting the better teams who tend to reach their respective final's which then clearly raises an issue regarding availability. Also we have a number of teams who have expressed an interest from further afield and felt this long weekend would enable them more time to use the weekend as their annual tour.
We would be delighted if your under 15’s team would be interested in attending the event which briefly will follow this format:
You would play three 30 minute games on either Saturday morning or afternoon i.e. as little waiting around time as possible.
Come back on the Sunday morning to play a remaining group game followed by knock out stages to conclusion in either cup, plate or vase competitions.
Camping is available on our grounds at £5 per person per night.
We have three touring teams confirmed already so will look to put on some sort of entertainment on the Saturday night.
This event does incur significant costs (food, medals and referees etc) and is being held as part of our group's attempts to fundraise for a Southern Hemisphere tour in two years time so I do hope the entrance fee of £65.00 per team is acceptable to you.
I look forward to hearing your response in due course
Best regards
Tom King
