Beverley with their cosmopolitan side proved to be too strong for a Redcar side hit by injuries and unavailability. Let that not be an excuse as the boys who turned out played with great determination and were in with a chance of a win for 65 minutes. Penalty's from Neil Young and Mark Patterson and some wonderful defensive work by the whole team kept the score to 8-6 at half time.
Beverley scored a try and then an outstanding individual piece of skill by Jamie Connolly saw him chip over the defence collect the ball and score a great try. Mark Patterson converted to bring the home side back to 15-13.
The effort started to take it toll and and in the last fifteen minutes Bev. ran in a couple of tries and eased into the next round by 38-13. |
