Redcar faced Ponteland in Arctic conditions (well it was cold)
As the visitors had no recognisable front row players uncontested scrums were the order of the day. This gave the quick Ponteland backs an advantage and they soon took the lead with an unconverted try in the corner. Whilst the forwards were once again evenly matched Ponteland had the edge in the backs and with uncontested scrums had all the time in the world to attack. Only the excellent trackling by Chris Brown on his return after a long lay off kept the score down to a 22 - 0 deficit at half time
FRom the half time restart Luke Jnr made ground to the 22 and joe Parker continued the burst supported by Steven johnson. Karl Connor went close to scoring as did John Malcolm BUt were held up by good defence on the line before Steven Wilson powered over from short range for his first try of the season. Ponteland continued in the same vein as the first half and despite some good breaks by Andy Benbow and Callum Pearce POnteland came out worthy winners at 42-5
