CONSORTIUM ON THE BRINK OF TAKING OVER HALIFAX TOWN.

Halifax Town today made a brief statement on behalf of the Consortium involved in potentially taking over the club.
“As of last Friday (1st June 2007), a major hurdle in progressing the potential deal to the Legal and Accounting process, was overcome. Following the repayment of a significant six-figure loan to a member of the Consortium and agreement for the repayment of a smaller loan on 30th June 2007, matters can now progress with speed.
As with all these types of transactions, there will be hurdles to overcome, but it is hoped a successful conclusion can be achieved within 2 to 4 weeks. Rest assured, time is of the essence and the transaction will move as quickly as possible. In other words “imminent” is getting nearer!!”
The statement went on to praise the efforts of Supporters and friends of the club in ensuring completion of the season and preserving Conference status.
The Halifax Town Supporters Trust chair Pam Burton has remained in almost daily contact with club General Manager Angie Firth and club advisor Chris Yewdall throughout the very long-winded process so far. In addition, Pam has spoken directly with a member of the consortium, and stressed the need for progress to be made on the deal.
In March the HTST called a public meeting at “Jumpin Jaks” in order to try to bring some impetus to what had become a stalemate. Although the consortium did not attend the meeting, Chris Yewdall was able to read out a 9-point plan prepared by the consortium. An appeal was made to supporters for financial assistance in getting the club to the end of the season with a promise to match fund from the consortium.
