Village win as web-site starts to function again
By Owain Johns - March 24 2007
Apologies with regards to the non-functioning of this site in recent times but everything seems to be fine now...! Garden Village kept up their fine run of form with victory on Saturday and now attentions turn to Sunday's cup tie... >

A first-half spot-kick from David Rimmer was enough for Garden Village as they made it three wins out of four with victory over lowly AFC Llwydcoed at Stafford Common.

The result takes Bob Lloyd's side seven points clear of the drop-zone and next week face a tricky trip to Tredegar Town where victory is vital as Village look to ease their relegation worries.

AFC Llwydcoed could have been the first club in the Welsh League to have been relegated this afternoon but Tredegar's failure to win at Pontyclun means that Llwydcoed must beat Bettws next week or otherwise face a second successive relegation.

Cup football returns to Stafford Common on Sunday as the home side look to book their place in a West Wales Senior Cup final for the very first time. Swansea League outfit St. Joseph's provide the opposition and the victorious side will earn the right to face Welsh League First Division title hopefuls Neath Athletic in the final tie of the Tony Nakonecznyj Insurance Brokers-sponsored competition.

Kick-off is at 2.30pm and if the match ends all-square after 90 minutes it will go into extra-time with the possibility of a penalty shootout.

St. Joseph's are currently sixth in the Swansea Senior League and have only won two out of their last six outings in all competitions. On Saturday they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Morriston Olympic.
