Andrew Foreman went over four times to continue his try scoring run before he made way for Steve Barnfield who made a good impression at the base. This match was one of only two Durham Northumberland One games to survive the freeze, Horden’s 35-10 home win over Sunderland being the other fixture to take place. Northern v Ashington; Percy Park v Consett and Wallsend v Alnwick all being postponed.
Stockton actually took a 3-0 lead with an 18 metre penalty by Jeremy Good but five minutes later Andrew Foreman broke from the away 10 metre line to run in. The scrum half had a hand in the next score when he passed onto Stuart Palmer who was stopped short but Stewart Grazier was there to receive and touchdown, Sainty converting.
On 29 minutes, Andrew Foreman scored an impossibly simple try from a tap penalty, darting to the line round several defenders seemingly unable or able to tackle him, Sainty adding the extra points and he went on to convert another simple run to the line by the scrum half for the Whites to lead 26-3.
Rovers kept the pressure on and went into the break with another seven points when Darren Smith dropped on a loose ball after a charge down, Sainty again on target.
The second half was only three minutes old when Phil Hall went in at the right hand clubhouse corner with Sainty converting from the touchline. The restart brought another try when Michael Tucker collected from a Stuart Palmer burst and he ran in from halfway showing a good turn of speed for a front row man.
Rovers brought up the fifty points courtesy of another Andrew Foreman try, his fourth and brother Gareth then got on the scoresheet when he ran upfield, kicked over Paul Armstrong’s head and gathered to go under the posts, Sainty adding both conversions.
With only a couple of minutes on the clock, some good passing along the line allowed Sainty to go in at the right hand corner flag and repeat his earlier touchline conversion to complete the scoring.
