1874 |
Rugby played in Macclesfield under
the auspices of the 8th Cheshire Rifle Volunteers.

1877 |
Macclesfield Rugby Football Club
formed playing at the Cricket Club.
J W H Thorp (Captain) who became
President of Cheshire in 1883 for 20 years and President of the RFU in 1898.

1878 |
Macclesfield affiliated to the
Union.

1927 |
Formation
of the present Club with a game against Davenport on 1 January 1927. W J
Siggins (Captain).
Home games at Congleton Road.

ground and headquarters - Cock Inn, Henbury. Played 26, Won 22, Lost 3,

Ground, Fallibroome (present site?).

Club
revived after the War years under the Presidency of T Turnbull and
Chairmanship of W E Whiston.

After
‘lodging’ at King’s School when the use of the Fallibroome ground ceased,
the Club opened its new ground and clubhouse on London Road on 9 September
1950.

1961/2 |
New
grounds and clubhouse at Tytherington opened by President of Cheshire and
the Mayor of Macclesfield on 7 September 1961.

Mini/Junior Section formed under George Lewis as Chairman.

of rugby in Macclesfield celebrations. Promoted to National 3 North after
second place play-off. Played 22, Won 17, Lost 5. 645 – 354.
