Official Wombourne CC
Wombourne CC 2nd XI vs Studley CC
By Press Officer - July 4 2006
At last our 2nd team enjoy that winning feeling ! Read on for the latest update from our second team as they played host to Studley on Saturday (1/7/06). >
On a scorching day the day did not start well, the majority of the youngsters reported in with either hangovers or busted up fingers. We really do need to look at our pre match preparation !

Tigger won the toss and reluctantly stuck um in, and the early signs were not good. Chippy and Deano opened up and had loads of luck, unfortuantley it was all bad ! The Studley openers brought the hundred up and it was time for a Tigger rant ! our ground fielding was becoming ragged "If your not shedding blood what you doin out here" came the skippers outbust.

Our new spin king Alvin was introduced into the attack and things started to improve. With the help of some great catches from the Earl and Chippy, Alvin bagged himself a fiffer. At the other end Brando provided the perfect foil to alvins accuracy by chucking down a whole selection of mystery balls, which confused the batsmen into providing him with 4 wickets ! Studley finished on 271 all out off their 50 overs.

A change of tatics this week as Tigger opened up in his new role as pinch hitter, and boy did it work ! He lasted just 8 overs but by this time we had 80 on the board ! Hemo struggled to get it away, but when the in form Smudger turned up we went back on the attack. After Smudger (72) and Hemo (41) departed, Alvin (30 odd) and Brando (30 odd) saw us home with overs to spare for out first win of the season.

Well done lads
