The 2's made their journey over to Finchfield Hockey club on another scorching Saturday afternoon for what turned out to be a day to forget for Wombourne in general.
Postie lost the toss as per usual and we were put into bat.
The now regular partnership of Richie The Earl Grey and David Chesney Hemming opened up only to see Richie caught behind of the third ball of the first over.
Alvin went in at 3 to join David and held it together putting the very rare bad ball away to the short boundaries on the one side.
Alvin was next to go caught and bowled by Dave Powell for 20, the top scorer.
David soon followed and Jono Meek didn't make a big impact either after he was called in to replace Smudger who was kind enough to tell Postie that he was unable to play at about 11 o'clock on Friday night.
New boy Simon was called up from the 3s again and look steady. Staying in to witness Meek junior and Postie's demise.
Simon was next to go replaced and Chippy followed a few overs later with the tail well and truley exposed at roughly 70ish for 8 from 25 overs.
Deano and Scotty Dogg used up about 10 overs taking runs when available. Deano was next to go to be replaced by Ocker who did not fancy using up the overs who proceeded to hit Dave Powell for a 6 which led to him removing himself from the attack to protect his figures.
A few overs later Ocker tossed one up for catching practise to Mr Powell who then dropped the dolly of the season, but was allowed to save any embarrasment by catching Ocker at mid on the very next ball.
So 96 all out, very poor batting performance on a fast deteriorating pitch. Some tight bowling was going to be needed after tea.
Chippy and Scotty opened up the attack but some loose lines to the left hander saw Scotty swiftly removed from the attack for the far more accurate option of Ocker who got a few to spit off the pitch but was fruitless in the end.
Deano replaced Chippy at the canal end and bowled some good lines, followd by Dave who also bowled well. Alvin bowled some spin from one end and managed to take a wicket.
Beacon easily reached their target of 97 for the loss of only two wickets.
Comment of the day came from Postie who should have been fined for "one brings ten".
Only room for improvement next week at home against Coleshill, when Postie will hopefully win a toss and we can get our first win of the season.
P.S Apologies for lack of detail figures wise, haven't got the book and my memory is a little fuzzy.
