After winning the toss the skipper decided to ask the opposition to bat, not exactly surprising considering we were playing on the E&S minefield.

A good start was required and that’s exactly what we got, H&GB reaching the dizzy heights of 25-3 off 21 overs. Ocker somehow remained wicket less whilst your truly claimed a couple of wickets and a run out. As Mulvers said it was like watching steel rust ,but it was all about to change …..

A double change and the introduction of JT and Lee “Bully” Bowen saw the run rate accelerate somewhat.. Lee bowled reasonably well without much luck; however, JT after a long absence struggled with his length and bowled too many four balls. A few lusty blows pushed the score to 110 + from 35 overs, with the loss of just one more wicket.

Another double change turned the tide in our favour. Windows again showing his ability to mop up the lower order claiming a well deserved 5 for … with three wickets in the last over. Catches win matches, and we held majority that came our way to bowl them out for 137, a good fight back considering we were looking at 160 + at one stage.

As we all know it’s not that easy to chase any score in excess of 100 at the E&S, however, we got off to a solid start, Liam and Dan complimenting each other well to push us pass the 50 mark without loss. Without taking anything away from our batsmen the bowling was a little wayward to say the least, however, you have to put the bad ball away, and that’s exactly what they did. Liam departed with the score in the 80’s for a well smoked 40 odd. Another quick wicket followed, but a quick fire 20 odd from the skipper pushed us past the 120 mark. Edger departed c&b, so it was left to Mulvihill senior and junior to see us home. Some rather audacious late cuts from the Irish rebel found the boundary to give us victory inside 25 overs and a well deserved 20 points.
