Yet another sucess for our 2's !
Berkswell were our opponents and had the best of a draw earlier in the season, but it was our day today. After a Chippy warm up we made an aggresive start, with Chippy himself planting a seam mark on the Berkswell skipper's chin ! Adam opened up at the other end and claimed 2 wickets to leave Berkswell at 30-2. Poor old Chippy ended up wicketless again, who at the moment could fall in a barrel of breasts and still come out suckin his thumb !
Berkswell recovered to 120, but then our spinners took control. Alvin produced another 5 wicket haul, and Brando once again proved the perfect foil to Alvins accuracy, with his mixture of half trackers and high, sorry very high full tosses !
Our fielding had its highs and lows ! Meeky kept well and claimed 3 stumpings. We took some good catches and Postie's effort could not be faulted as he disappeared down the new drainage ditch in a cloud of dust ! However Tigga will be having catching practice with the under 11's on Friday night !
Berkswell 222 all out (Alvin 5 - 62, Brando 2 - 78, Adam 2 -21)
Wombourne' s reply got off to a great start with an opening partnership of 148. The returning Neil Grant scored a fine 91 and the Earl 79. It left Hemo (15 no) and Brando (32no) to see us home for a comprehensive 8 wicket win.
Wombourne 224 - 2 in 42.5 overs
Press Officer MOM - Alvin Hughes
Press Officer champagne moment - Tigga apologising to the out going batsmen for getting out to Brando !
