Barney Preview

By Dave Picken - November 16 2018
Barney Preview Long term injury victims Andrew Rollins and Gavin Painter are set to return to action as we host Barnard Castle in our first 2.15 kick off at Brinkburn.

"Rollo" will be at hooker alongside Adam Coates and Jonny Hunter, while Gav is set to provide backs cover from the bench.

Their return is timely with the usual crop of injuries, work commitments and sunshine holidays enforcing a few changes to the side which ran in 85 unanswered points at Whitby.

It's a big game - for the first time since the start of the season we may have the opportunity to move into the promotion and play-off places in Durham and Northumberland One. First placed Northern are hosting second placed Durham City,  so a five-point win against mid-table Barnard Castle could propel us into second place.

Barney arrive having won five and lost four games and follow the Painter dynasty in having a father and son on the pitch for a league game - tighthead Richard Welsby, Finance Director at Bowes Museum, having the pleasure of trying to win the ball so his son George can perform in the centre.

For West Adam Brown drops into the back row, to replace the unavailable Jay Corbett, with Rob Thorn coming in on the wing after his starring tole in the Vets win against Seaham last week

West: Zac Southern, Adam Peacock, Will Hilditch, Peter Youll, Rob Thorn, Stu Waites, Ryan Painter (capt), Adam Coates, Andrew Rollins, Jonny Hunter, Joe Rafferty, Jake Linighan, Isaac Robinson,  Chris Atkins, Adam Brown.

Changes: Ross Wood, Connor McLurg, Gavin Painter.

Good to see Rollins and Painter G. back.
We will need our more experienced players as we have some big games coming up. Hope we stay injury free.
