Alnwick Preview

Alnwick Preview Back to 3.00 kick offs for our penultimate home game of the season. It seems that every week we face team in second place - Driffield, Penrith and now Alnwick so life doesn't get any easier ..

It goes without saying that both sides need the points, and with Northern facing Dinnington our requirement is to stay out of the bottom three.

It won't be easy against a free runing Alnwick side who absorbed our early pressure at Greensfield to hit us on the break three times in the first 15 minutes.

That was back in Novembe, r and we did come back to earn a rare try bonus point in an entertaining 44-31 defeat.

It was a similar situation at Penrith - before the  snow - when we amazingly had more possession than the hosts only to go down 66-15.

Fortunately, we are doing better at Brinkburn where we had the chances to beat Driffield and have claimed the scalp of Morpeth.

Both Rob Thorn and Adam Coates missed the trip along the A66 but return to face the Norrthumbrians. However, Liam Checksfield, last season’s top try scorer, is once again missing having been called up the Scotland Under 20’s Development Squad which will take on Romania Under 20’s on Sunday.

West: Zac Southern, Matt Tyers, Will Hilditch, Peter Youll, Rob Thorn, Gavin Painter, Ryan Painter (captain), Adam Coates,  Andrew Rollins, Alex Key, John Bunter, Joe Rafferty, Alex Barker, Scott Butcher, Andrew Turne.

Changes: Jake Linighan, Adam Peacock, Johnny Hunter.
