The Stags are the Pyman Cup Champions 2017. The Cup is now played for In a one day 10s tournament which this year was hosted by Hartlepool RFC. Unfortunately, Tech and Horden cried off prior to the event so that left four teams in the tournament, while the Shield tournament planned for Brinkburn didnt' take place because of cry-offs ..

The Cup format was changed from the original 2 league format to a round robin.

In the first round we played  Rovers winning 19-7 with tries from Danny Quinn, Will Hilditch and Matt Siddle.

On the other pitch Hartlepool beat Seaton 19-12.

In round 2 we played hosts Hartlepool coming out 28-22 winners. Tries came from Will Hilditch, Matt Siddle & Joe Willis. Rovers beat Seaton 43-0 in the other game.

Due to injuries to Seaton we got a bye to the final. Rovers faced Hartlepool in a closely fought contest with Rovers coming out 7-5 winners to take tme to the final.

The final was a close fought affair with The Stags coming out victors 17-14. Our try scorers were Matt Siddle, Will Hilditch and Ben Armstrong.

The Cup was presented by Hartlepool and District Chairman Jim Ainslie to Andy Turner (pictured)- who was the Stags captain for the tournament.

Thank you to everyone who made the day possible and a special thank you and well done to our players and coaches for a very successful season.

It's been fantastic to see the Squad develop this season- I have loved every minute of it, especially seeing some of the former M&J's integrating so well. A great blend of leadership, coaching/management, experience & youth - just how it should be.

Many Congratulations to all players & coaches on such a fine effort - well done to all.

We definitely Stood Fast and Did Not Surrender - well, apart from the odd Blips v DMP and the like.
