Bradford and Bingley Preview

By Dave Picken - January 13 2017
Bradford and Bingley Preview Weather permitting we are off to Bradford and Bingley hoping to keep our place at the top of North One East - but we will face a side anxious for revenge. Back in October we hammered the Bees 61-10 at  Brinkburn – our biggest win of the season so far.

The Bees have picked up since then and are one of the form sides in the league having moved up to fifth place, despite a set back at Pocklington last week.

They are now ten points behind and know that a home defeat would effectively end their hopes of a second automatic promotion.

The Wagon Lane side have been reinforced by the arrival of some South African imports - stand off Gerhard Nortier and powerful centre  Schalk Oosthuizen  scoring more than 200 points between them.

We will be boosted by the return of fly half and playmaker Gavin Painter, second row John Bunter and winger Will Hilditch.

However, there is the usual handful of players who can't make the trip for one reason and another including both Aaron and Eldon Myers, Rob Thorn and Luke Mallinson. Top try scorer Liam Checksfield has also become a long term injury victim after breaking his hand playing for the Falcons Academy against Sale Sharks.

Zac Southern reverts to full back with Will Hilditch returning on one wing and Joe Willis on the other.

With Carl Miller in good form in the back row skipper Dan Boatman moves up to partner John Bunter.

Anth Carr continues his return on the bench where young Matt Siddle (pictured) will provide backs cover.

West:Zac Southern, Will Hilditch,  Peter Youll, Greg Edwards, Joe Willis, Gavin Painter, Ryan Painter, Adam Coates, Andrew Rollins, Ross Wood, John Bunter, Dan Boatman (captain), Carl Miller, Lee Maddison, Sam Miller.

Changes:  Joe Rafferty, Matt Siddle, Anth Carr.

So still 5 players not available for selection. We can still do a double with hard work, application and concentration for full 80mins and a continuation of last weeks 2nd half form. Good luck WEST!!
