Dinnington Preview

By Dave Picken - December 2 2016
Dinnington Preview Scott Butcher will make his first start of the season as Dinnington arrive at Brinkburn to complete the first half of the season ...

The winger comes in for Rob Thorn who is unavailable, and that is one of a number of changes as the likes of skipper Dan Boatman, Aaron Myers, Peter Youll, Will Hilditch and Ryan Painter report back for duty.

Unfortunately, Gavin Painter is missing after having five stitches in his gashed arm last week with Eldon Myers injured in a mid-week game for the Royal Navy.

The mission is to get back on track after a big defeat at Pocklington last week. A much changed side saw the floodgates open in the final quarter after injuries to Gav, Southern and Bunter. Fortunately, the latter two have recovered with Southern wearing the 10 shirt. Luke Mallinson - our only try scorer last week - drops to full back with Peter Youll and Liam Checksfield in the centres.

They'll take on a South Yorkshire side which has also suffered its share of injuries this season, but which is now getting back to strength - their result the previous week at Pocklington was in stark contrast to our own. They edged that game 21-19 and there won't be many sides who win at Feathers Field this season.

Last week Dinnington overcame an improving Percy Park by 27-19, and  in player coach Jonny West they have one of the best playmakers in the league as well as a couple of Kiwis in their ranks.

We remain top mainly thanks to Penrith's home game against Guisborough being called off,  and with Malton and Norton also visiting next week  we need to make the most of home advantage before our final league game of 2016 - a tricky trip to Driffield.

West: Luke Mallinson, Scott Butcher, Liam Checksfield, Peter Youll, Will Hilditch, Zac Southern, Ryan Painter, Adam Coates, Andrew Rollins, Tiom Blades, John Bunter, Joe Rafferty, Alex Barker, Aaron Myers, Dan Boatman (capt).

Changes: Ross Wood, Lee Maddison, Greg Edwards.

Dinnington: Justin Wilson,  Matt Shaw, Caleb Nicholas,  Oli Rodgers, Duell Trueman, Jonny West, Neil Francis,  Marc Schofield,  Mikey Leitch,  Jareth MacKay,  Tom Sheppard,  Neil Dunn,  Danny Howells, Ryan Donnelly, Will Marshall.

Changes: Andrew Pickering,  Stephen Leitch, Aaron Wood

Can't see this being an easy game. We need to be disciplined, get our heads down and cut out some of the errors that have been creeping in.
Back to basics.
