Wheatley Hills Preview

By Dave Picken - October 19 2016
Wheatley Hills Preview It's top v bottom at Brinkburn (kick off 3.00). Old rivals Wheatley Hills are rebuilding and have yet to find a winning formula with their only return so far coming from a losing bonus point ..

However, we have yet to have an easy game against the Doncaster side - who always have a pack to be respected - and the opposition will not be taken lightly.

A victory this Saturday would set us up nicely for the trip to second place Penrith next week - the Cumbrians having a tough task this weekend with a trip to Pocklington.

We will go into those games without skipper Danny Boatman who is unavailable and Luke Mallinson who is injured,  while the half term break will mean a few more are missing for next week's trip.

This week we do have the benefit of Adam Coates and Alex Barker (pictured) returning from injuries -with Aaron Myers also away Barker will join Lee Maddison and Sam Miller in the back row. Rob Thorn comes in for Mallinson and Joe Rafferty starts alongside John Bunter in the second row.

The game will be given added interest thanks to Durham Refs exchange scheme with the USA. The game will be in the charge of Tom Lyons an experienced  official from Potomac who has previously reffed in the Midlands and London s well as International 7's.

West : Zac Southern, Rob Thorn, Liam Checksfield, Peter Youll, Will Hilditch, Gavin Painter, Ryan Painter(capt), Ross Wood, Andrew Rollins, Michael Hogan, Joe Rafferty, Alex Barker, Lee Maddison, Sam Miller.

Changes: Adam Coates, Paul Moss, Jay Corbett.

Real shame about non availabilities due to half term - it's rugby season for goodness sake!! We would do well to take note and not take Wheatley Hills lightly. We need another bonus point win noting next weeks opposition away. We have in the past not had good results against opposition we have taken too lightly so hopefully not the case this week!! Good luck to WEST and also to the STAGS in their Candy League game and hope both sides continue their league form. Anything for the Bucks yet??
