Your Clubhouse Takes Shape

Your Clubhouse Takes Shape
The roof is going on the new clubhouse - with tiling starting this week - and the first part of the roof of the new club bar has also being fitted  [left]. Time now to do your bit please....

Club roof nov 14

We still need to raise money to ensure the clubhouse is fitted and equipped to the best possible standards, and the committee which has formed to raise funds for Phase Two of the project - the club bar - is also very busy raising funds.

There are no grants or outside funds available to build the extra club bar. Building it will allow us to use the two bars in the function/community room to the best advantage and, of course, it will be very much a rugby environment. The bar will be  full of our memorabilia and with views from immediately behind the goalposts onto the main pitch.

Materials will cost in the region of £40,000, and the idea is that we use the skills and labour of club members to build it. A real club effort ,and if you can help in any way please shout up. Kevan Oliphant or Andrew Dixon will be very pleased to hear from you.

There are also a number of ways for you to get involved so please invest in the future of your club. These are the ways you can  do it:

Buy A Brick  A brick for the new clubhouse costs £10 and a Foundation Stone costs £200. Get your name on a feature wall in the new clubhouse by buying either. (Obviously the Foundation Stone gets you a bigger mention for posterity.)

Platinum Club

A number of well-known former players, and club members, have already pledged £1,000 by joining the Platinum Club. Their money will go towards building the new separate club bar (Phase Two) which it's hoped will happen in the summer of 2015. There will be lots of benefits to being a member and the Club will be holding a number of fund raisers over the next five years so that members can have their capital repaid. Tony Wilson is happy to provide more details of how it all works.

The club will be introducing a membership card system in the new club which will provide discounts for members and players. The card also allows you to load your card up in one go so you don't have to worry about carrying cash when you visit. This week the Board approved a scheme whereby any amount over £500, which is loaded onto an individual's card and which is paid for between now and April 2015, will all go towards providing the new club bar. It is, of course, up to you how quickly you redeem your investment. Dave Harding, our membership secretary, will be happy to provide more information, and it will greatly help if you let us know if you want to do this - even though you may not want to pay the cash until later.

 RFU Draw

The RFU Grand Christmas Draw offers fabulous prizes and for every £1 ticket we sell we get 90p back. We are having a big effort this year with the proceeds going to the new clubhouse  - so if you want to get some tickets to sell to your friends and colleagues, or want to buy some for yourself, please contact our new Hon Sec -  none other than Graham Frankland.

Hi Quinny

I can only speak for the Platinum club as we are a separate entity as far as fund raising goes, also some people who have pledged £1,000 as a loan (donation in some cases) would like to remain anonymous so to give a running total is difficult.

That aside, we have held two events so far in the time we have been going and have raised in excess of 6K from those, which is fantastic. It has only been possible because the whole club from the minis to the first team are all getting behind it. Put the money from the loans/donations so far on to that an we are well on our way.

The committee is not a closed shop and if anybody wants to get involved or have ideas or contacts that can boost the funds it would be great to hear from you.

(If anybody is in a position to join the platinum club please get in touch, what do you get from the bank these days, £5 a year on £1,000!!)

Thanks for all the support so far

Thanks Olly. I was just thinking a rising Barometer or something might be good, I'm not interested in who gives what, just getting to the target and seeing it getting closer each event
Thanks

Some excellent ideas there and great to see so much hard work being put in on so many fronts.
I shall certainly be playing my part once I've got my Christmas credit card bill sorted.

Keep up the good work one and all.
