Waites There was plenty of effort on sjhow but Lymm's lively backs were the difference as we fell even deeper into the relegation zone.

There were bonuses for West including a second half outing for 17 year old Sam Miller whose tackling alongside Nathan Myers was a major feature.

We had begun the game looking more lively than they have done for weeks and Stu Waites put us ahead after two minute’s with a well struck penalty.

Lymm full back Dave Williamson equalised before Waites put West back in front after twelve minutes with a penalty from in front of the posts.

But that was the last time the visitors were to be in front.

Lymm got the first try of the day when fly half Luke Emmitt evaded a tackle on the 22 and the way was clear for him to go over to make it 8-6.

Williamson added another penalty and then scored right on half time. Scott Butcher’s clearance kick was well caught by Emmitt who sped back down the right wing and timed his pass to give the home full back an easy run in, and an 18-6 half time lead for the home side.

West came back strongly at the start of the second half with Waites adding another penalty before Lymm flanker Tim Oakes was sin binned for a high tackle on Peter Youll. Unfortunately we couldn’t take advantage with Andrew Rollins held up over the line.

Lymm weathered the storm and got their third try on 66 minutes when prop John Brotherton finished off a forwards drive with Williamson getting the conversion.

We did have a consolation with Waites s coring in the last move of the game. He and Colin Cheslin had been the pick of the West backs and he got the try he deserved when he collected his own chip kick and raced clear. However, his conversion hit the post to sum up ours afternoon.
