The End is Nigh

The End is Nigh
Only two games to go before the season finally comes to an end.  The big one, of course, is the Pyman Cup Final on Wednesday night when the Stags take on Seaton I's at Hornby Park [kick off 6.30] ...

Then on Saturday the Fourths are off to Bishop Auckland with Peter Wilkinson still desperate to score a try - if he does it will be the 34th season in a row that he has managed to cross the line.

It is also a game where Tony Wilson is threatening to celebrate his forthcoming nuptials with a cameo performance. That will mean Wilkie and Graham Frankland will be by no means the oldest players on the pitch.

Adam Larkin break

The Stags look to defend the Pyman Cup against a Seaton side which has already beaten them earlier in the season. At Horden last week the pack struggled against a big home uinit, and it was a couple of Ryan Painter tries which secured the place in the final.

With Luke Mallinson in great kicking form, and Adam Larkin [above] back in action, the Stags coaches will be hoping for more ball against Seaton so the Cup can be added to the Shield which the Bucks won against the same opposition last  week.

Stags Squad Meet at Seaton 5.30:

A Palmer R Wood A Dixon C Hadwen C Forest M Hogan J Corbett J Baggs A Barker N Myers P Henderson

R Painter D Tighe A Larkin P Hodgson P Moss D Thomas Z Southern P Miller M Boatman L Mallinson

No offence intended to Seaton but with that team we should be more than capable of winning this one!

The reality is that Seaton are a first team and will be very well drilled. First Team rugby is very different to second team and the Stags team fully respects the challenge ahead. It will be tougher than at Horden make no mistake.

Good luck to both sides tonight, especially after the wonderful sporting comments of Seaton after the Shield Final. I am sure it will be very combatative as most Pyman Cup Finals are. Seaton should be very encouraged and proud to have both sides in the finals. As a former wearer of both sets of colours I hope both sides enjoy a sporting game as I am sure it will be.

Not sure I agree that there is a big difference between candy league rugby and seatons first team league and would suggest the stags are pretty well drilled. Like I said no offence to Seaton and good luck to stags
