Billingham 0 Stags 72
Robinson - first try The Stags travelled to Greenwood Road in a confident mood despite the set back against Middlesbrough the week before. With a greatly enhanced team they took on a Billingham team who were quietly confident after beating the Hartlepool Rovers Heughers the week before.
However Billingham did not expect the Stags to come out with as much power and determination as they did. From the outset the Stags forwards set up a great platform for the backs to run time and time again at the Billingham defence. With the front five dominating play in both the tight and the loose it took only 7 minutes for stand off Gavin Robinson to open the home defence up with a great show and go to score under the posts from fifteen metres out converted by Zac Southern.

The rest of the half followed a same pattern of play with the Stags continually putting the home team under pressure. Which resulted in further tries for: Andy Dixon Anthony Cameron, Gavin Robinson and Paul Miller, half time (0-31)

The second half followed in the same vein with tries for A. Barker, Darren Thomas, Luke Watson (2), Andy Robson, Scott Butcher and Adam Larkin giving a total score of ( Billingham 0- Stags72).

The most pleasing aspect of the afternoon from a rugby spectators point of view was the attitude of the Billingham players who despite their heavy defeat were adamant that they had enjoyed the game and they said that they had learnt a lot from the way the Stags played and the commitment that they put into the game and they vowed to give them a sterner test next time the teams meet.
