Together with fourth new signing this week, Geordie prop Chris Stewart, it just about completes the squads for what will be highly competitive North One and CaNDY league.
The players all worked alongside Kevan Olliphant and Jamie Connolly at Mowden last year, as they came within a score of promotion to National Two, and bring both power and experiences to a young West squad.
It will be needed in a league which will feature sides such as Hull who have a handful of former internationals in their squad.
The new players were at the first full training session last night - attended by more than fifty players.Coach Tim Sawyer was delighted with the turnout and with the signings. There will be healthy competition for places in all of the West teams this season with Sawyer himself also keen to get back on the pitch.

I thought Myers was meant to be destined for bigger things? Why on earth would he step down a level when he should be looking upwards if he has any pretence of making it?

Bit bitchy that Wonderfish. Having talked to Myers senior I gather that Myers junior has the sense to pursue a career that will will keep him fed for the rest of his life while enjoying his rugby at his own club. Good luck to him.
Now can I say what tremendous news this all is. Most of these players grew up with West but to the two names I don't know I'd like to say welcome and I hope you enjoy your rugby with us. I hope Rob Thorn and the Boatman Bros would back me up when I say we are a friendly club and hospitable bunch.

Pikey you are getting us mixed up with Rovers. We have never said we don't pay players. I said we havent been lately but will probably have to in the higher league.
And the only reason we have a go at Rovers is because some of you claim that you dont pay players because you have always been an amateur club when what you dont say is that you dont pay them but sponsors do whichn is the same difference in my opinion.
I think it is called hyopcrisy

I'm impressed that West have brought in extra players, especially as it will strengthen the squad.
I am not being in anyway disrespectful of any of the players, but I am concerned that all the new signings are forwards, what news is there of new backs, last year was very impressive, and I'm sure there is competition from players from the stags etc but a couple of new backs would really strengthen the team, also, and again in NO disrespect to Paul Moss, but some healthy competition for the kicker spot would be good too.

Its good to hear that you are still around Rob, didn't think you would be able to play for West this year with all the travelling.
Paul Moss did a job for West last year, turning around a few results with some crucial kicks as always, without which West would not have dominated as much.
I'm just a fan, and no doubt I'll get slated for saying this as I don't play, never tried kicking under pressure etc etc, but it IS frustrating to watch magic kicks in the last minutes/seconds of a game, from the touch line, sail over between the posts, then at other times, some (in comparison to those kicks) doolies being missed - NOT that I could do any better.
As I said I mean no disrepect by the above, but kicks are going to be even more vital in North one, and could make or break the season. I'm sure Olli will have a lot to offer in terms of kicking coaching.

Moss has proven to be an excellent kicker and has won important games for us with tremendous kicks under great pressure. I am sure he is practising hard already but don't forget every kicker misses the odd one.
