Official West Hartlepool RFC
Aldwinians Preview
By Dave Picken - November 9 2007
You can't keep a quality player down. Brett Cullinane can't train as often as he used to, but the man who was told to eat two chickens a day when he first arrived at West, is back in the broilerhouse at Aldwinians tomorrow. >

He had an excellent game alongside Andrew Dixon last week, with five balls won against the head, and our scrummaging was top notch all game. Brett finally gave way to young Jon Norris who showed no ill effects following the operation on his hand which should have kept him out all season. His return is major bonus - specially with the unfortunate injury to Ryan Phillips who we hope to see at Brinkburn on Saturday watching the Stags take on Westoe.

Over in Manchester it's a top v bottom clash and an unbeaten side taking on a side which has yet to notch a victory. Jonny Boatman returns to add his own speed and tenacity to the backrow, with Paul Rudd moving up to second row, while the backs will be unchanged. Darren Thomas returns to the bench alongside Phil Henderson and young Nogger.

Aldwinians wee hammered 66-0 at Aspatria last week and won't be fancying taking on another side at the top of the table. But their side is now close to resembling the one which were narrowly beaten at home by Rovers on the first day of the season. Fly half Richard Mooney returns, although they will be missing one half of the Thompson brothers in the centre. James Worrall comes in for Russ Thompson.

Aldwinians: Matty Johnson, Pete Hughes, Mike Thompson, James Worrall, Andrew Rigby, Richard Mooney, Paul Thorpe, Tim Smith, Nick Kitchen, Keith Lees, Andy Ormrod, Dean Williams, Danny Quinn, Bob Palmer [capt], Andy Gidman. Reps: Keith Burnett, Jonny Acheson, Ryan Jennings.

West: Ryan Painter, Rob Thorn, Peter Hodgson [capt], Neil Howe, Andrew Hare, Paul Moss, Davy Tighe, Brett Cullinane, Andrew Dixon, Carlo Robinson, Paul Rudd, Tom Dixon, Dan Boatman, Jon Boatman, Dave Garside. Reps; Jon Norris, Phil Henderson, Darren Thomas.
