No 8 New Stand Ready for Driff
By Dave Picken - September 22 2007
The new stand has arrived and Driffield will prove fitting opponents for its first use. They'll face a reshuffled West side following the spate of injuries which forced a wholesale change of the back row at Morpeth last week. >

Fortunately, there is strength in depth so Tom Dixon and Carl Miller replace Paul Rudd and Henry Tones with Miller taking over the No 8 shirt from Jonny Boatman. Jonny has recovered from his ankle injury, and a contretmps with a taxi in Newcastle following last week's victory, and will partner brother Dan on the flanks.

In the backs Hodgson and Howe switch positions in the centre while Paul Moss keep the well contented No 10 shirt after a fine display which earned him all 11 first half points.

Driff travel on the back of an unexpected home defeat by Aspatria. They are always one of the teams to beat in this league and will be keen to bounce straight back.

Driffield make a number of changes. In the backs Luke Thompson returns from injury at 12 with Alasdair McClarron joining him at centre. McLarron's place on the wing being filled by skipper Richardr Anderson. Tom Foster is seconded from Durham University to fill in for Craig Gray at scrum half. The Aussie broke his nose last week. The biggest change however, sees New Zealander Damian jacobs come in for his debut at stand off.

The pack is also reshuffled with Jimmy Stephenson and Oliver Borman out, Tama Luke moves into the second row to allow veteran Vanston Cook and Richard Jones into the backrow.

Our start to the season always looked difficult but both City and Morpeth are out of the way and a win against Driff would set us very nicely for the trip to Halifax and Old Crossleyan's tight pitch next week.

Is that Wonderfish back in the side/??

Don't think McClarons best position is in the centre though.

Our stand must be unique in having a roof on. I wonder why other clubs have roofless stands ? Not much point really is there ?

The fish may well have been reinstated but not into his favoured position until the second half.

I drove past said stand on Sunday, I got confused and thought they had moved the Burn Valley toilets and added an extra storey and security shutters at first.

Be careful Wonderfish you'll give the game away!
