Missing Team for Old Crossleyans
By Dave Picken - March 1 2007
It's make or break time for both the Firsts and the Stags. At Brinkburn the first team need to beat Old Crocs to keep third place - and any remote chance of sneaking the play-off place. For the Stags it is do or die against a strong Blaydon second string in the county cup. Both kick offs 3.00 pm. >

The firsts will be without rising stars Mikey Young and Aaron Myers. Both are unavailable through Falcons commitments. Mikey made the first try at Durham last week and then scored the second himself. Skipper Davy Tighe regains his no 9 shirt with last week's last minute goal kicking hero Paul Moss starting at 10.

Neil Howe returns at inside centre, and so does Tom Dixon in the second row allowing Carl Miller to drop back to replace Myers alongside the Boatmans.

Unfortunately, back row possible Henry Tones has been ruled out for the rest of the seaason after suffering problems with his recent shoulder injury. Let's hope it is all sorted for next season.

Winger Danny Weegram makes a welcome return on the bench alongside Phil Henderson and Jon Norris.

Old Crocs make their first visit to Brinkburn just one point behind West. The Halifax side shaded the points when they were the first team to beat us in the early part of the season. We struggled to come to terms with the narrow pitch in the first half - then enjoyed most of the play in the second but, as on many other occasions, couldn't turn territory into points.

West Hare, Painter, Edwards, Howe, Todd, Moss, Tighe [capt], Carr, A Dixon, Robinson, Rudd, T Dixon, C Miller, D Boatman, J Boatman.

reps: Norris, Henderson, Weegram

Old Crossleyans Ian Holmes, James Wainwright, Luke Smith, Luke Bartle, Phil Hill, Andy Petre, James Mallard, Amdy Day, Richard Wheale [capt], P J McGrath, Matt Horne, Chris Wood, Manny Riaz, Mark Thomas, Stuart Hill.

Reps: Rody Davies, Tom Clayton, Joel Hinchliffe

The Stags will be looking to cause a bit of surprise by overturning Blaydon IIs on their own pitch. They'll no doubt have hoped that Moss and Henderson would have been available but it is a strong looking squad which travels up the A1 - albeit a young one.
