Last season they finished just above us in third place and their teamsheet has a familiar ring to it. But they've only got seven points and will be looking over their shoulder as teams like Rovers and Durham City star to pick up points.
The Northumbrians have a very close points difference, losing quite a few games by very narrow margins. By all accounts they could have given Middlesbrough a fright last week but, like us the week before, gave away a daft try in the first minute and were then chasing the game.
In fly half Matthew Jinks they have an excellent kicker and play maker, and have experience and power in the pack in the likes of David Dickinson, John Walton and evergreen Duncan Hutton - the Dean Richards lookalike is just two games short of his 400th game for the club.
By contrast we are once again fielding a very young side. Howe comes into the sqaud after training over the past few weeks, and will provide very welcome cover and competition for places in an area where we don't have much cover.
Andrew Hare stays at full back after an excellent show at Sheffield while Paul Moss returns to the fly half berth.
The pack is the same as the one which battled through the wind and rain at Sheffield Tigers. Carl Robinson is also on the bench as the club awaits the Referee's report from his sending off in the dying seconds last week. Young Tom Dixon continues his first team "blooding" on the bench in a game we must win to stay in touch at the top.

Good to see some depth being added in the centres. The handling hasn't been great along the backline over the last few weeks and hopefully a bit of competition can improve the performances in that area

Its because they are
a]standing too shallow
b] ball is too slow
c] crash ball is being overused
I'll tell Snorbitz! That will get me off the Xmas card list!

I don't necessarily disagree with your points there WPA but none of them are the cause for people dropping the ball or delivering poor passes

If they are standing too flat that could be why they are dropping the ball as they are not moving on to it, or the pass goes behind.
Just a point, don’t want to start a debate.
