At 120 for 2 Anthony Fawcett makes a vital breakthrough to trap Chris Allinson for 63 with Marske threatening to build a sizeable total. This proved to be a pivotal moment in the balance of the match. Callum Prosser and Marc Symington each took 4 wickets with Fawcett claiming 2 wickets in a good fightback.
After the early loss of Neil Coverdale (who got a beauty on debut) it was up to Jack Wilkinson (48)and Kasun Bodhisha (31)to steady the ship. Neil Coverdale bounced back from his disappointment on Saturday to play a match-winning innings against Great Ayton. He remained unbeaten and shared a big partnership with Kasun Bodhisha. Hartlepool won both matches at the weekend to give everybody at the club a great boost. Hartlepool 2nds also recovered from a poor performance on Saturday to record an easy win against Redcar IIs. Kevin Peek with 6 wickets did the most damage after a lively opening burst from Adil Ahmad and Jonathan Mitchell had Redcar batsmen hopping around.
