Hartlepool Cricket Club was the venue for the annual awards evening and also featured top class entertainment from guitar vocalist Marc Atkinson.

Andy Smith was in charge (almost) as he reviewed the season and handed out awards for the senior teams aided by a few comments on the season from the team captains.

Special mention was made to club officials and staff for there hard work and a big thank you to Susanne Wilkinson who negotiated the bureaucratic nightmare of UK Border Agency procedures to secure the services of a replacement overseas professional at short notice.  Mike Gough Snr. was also thanked for his role with the professionals Marc Symington and Saman Jayantha Warushivithana who both demonstrated excellent ability throughout the season.

Jeff and Caroline for providing high quality refreshments throughout the season once again.

A presentation was made to Alan Lacy for his brilliant efforts in not only supporting the 1st Team home and away, but also providing hundreds of high quality photographs to the club and individual players.  The club is extremely grateful to Alan for sharing his hobby and allowing us to publish his photographs on website and in handbooks.  Many opposition players are also delighted to see themselves in action when playing against Hartlepool.  A brilliant voluntary contribution from Alan to promote cricket and capture players successes and disappointments

A packed clubhouse rose to honour Ken Gardner, our Chairman, who was honoured by the Durham Cricket Board in 2010 for his outstanding service to local cricket.  Ken was delighted to be awarded the OSCA for Durham and was invited to Lord’s with winners from other regions to celebrate the achievement.  Naturally Ken was keen to say a few words to players and supporters.  The warmth of the applause was fitting for a man regarded far and wide as “Mr. Hartlepool Cricket Club” as well as a most popular NYSD League President for many years before handing over to Chris West.  The club is grateful to KWG for continuing his work despite considerable problems with his health over the past 12 months.  Anybody who spends time with Ken will know only too well that his quick wit and great sense of humour remain in fine form.
