Chris Fawcett top scored in partnership with Saman Jayantha Warushivithana who passed 1000 runs for the season. They formed the backbone of the innings on a difficult wicket to help Hartlepool to 188 for 9 after 50 overs
Marc Symington struck early to put Bishops under
pressure as the home batting found conditions equally difficult Callum Prosser picked up 2 wickets, Saman 1 and 2 run outs (including home professional Gary Pratt run out by debutant Jack Hutchinson). Despite this Hartlepool were unable to bowl out Bishops but took a creditable 14 points for their efforts. Bishops collected 8 points. Hartlepool 2nds were outclassed by Darlington RAs batting to lose by 9 wickets. Highlight for Hartlepool was a big partnership between Tom Gavin and Hashim Ahmad after 2 early wickets fell. Sadly when they both departed in quick succession the remaining batting failed to apply themselves and the innings subsided from 150 for 2 to 175 all out. Darlington RA openers them put the bowlers to the sword to win at a canter. The 3rds came out second best in a drawn match with Marske but contributed well in an entertaining match. Only 2 batsmen made scores of note chasing a total in excess of 200. John Houghton with forty odd and Talay Ahmad with an excellent 88 from a long innings took Hartlepool to 172 for 9 wickets |
