1st XI action resumes this weekend
By Freelancer - August 7 2008
Hartlepool 1stXI will return to action this weekend knowing that good performances are needed as the season's run in begins. As Redcar narrowly won their game in hand by 6 runs the points gap is now 21 points at the bottom. The match away to Normanby Hall who are just 4 points ahead may be crucial >

Hartlepool 1st XI had a blank Saturday last week to mark the occasion of Mr and Mrs Palmer's wedding bash.  So to make up for that the 2nds had a double weekend but came out second best on both days.

The away match against Bishop Auckland was marred by a sickening injury to the umpire Ken Dixon.  He was struck when the ball was driven back down the pitch  and sustained a broken leg.  The result after such a serious injury seems of minor significance as all players were shocked by the incident.  Match Drawn  Bishop Auckland v Hartlepool 2nds  All who know Ken Dixon will wish him speedy return to fitness and we all hope to see him umpiring again next year.

On Sunday the 2nds were at home to a surprisingly strong Marton team featuring some regular 1st XI players.  Obviously Marton have decided to make a push to win Division 2 and strengthen the team.  Hartlepool were comfortably beaten as Marton coasted home by 7 wickets.           Hartlepool 2nds v Marton

Apologies but no further details are available because details have not been entered onto the play-cricket results site.
