| Hartlepool extended their lead over bottom club Redcar after a high
scoring defeat away to Marske. Jon Cannon with an excellent 79
helped Hartlepool to a second successive score of 200 from the 50 overs.
Chris Fawcett with 29 and Thara Gunarathne 30 helped the cause.
Danny Shurmer with a late flurry ensured the 5th batting point.

The free-scoring Marske professional duo of Rob Nichol and Steve
Chapman were always likely to challenge the Hartlepool bowlers.
Chapman departed cheaply but Nichol was to play the match-winning innings
required by his team. With the match evenly poised at 87 for 3
Haslett joined Nichol to take Marske to the brink of victory.
Hartlepool stuck at it and picked up a further 3 wickets to gain valuable
bonus points from the defeat by 4 wickets with 1 over remaining.
Hartlepool 2nds began badly against Billingham losing wickets at
regular intervals on a hot afternoon. Paul Jackson however continued
to score at a very healthy rate until dismissed for 88 with a century
beckoning. Chris Buttery with 36 and an excellent 42 from Iain
Walker. Callum Prosser saw the 200 up for Hartlepool in a last
wicket stand of 24. Billingham never really looked interested in
chasing 220 despite having 53 overs available. Callum Prosser was
the pick of the bowlers with 2 good 7 overs spells picking up 3 wickets.

Hartlepool 3rds reversed their defeat at Bishop Auckland thanks to
excellent bowling from the captain, Rob Snowball, with 7
wickets. Victory after being 60 for 6 was a hughe bonus and due to
some excellent batting from the less experienced members of the
team. Richie Dennis, Jonathon Mitchell, Alex Knox and Tom Gavin all
played very well to help Hartlepool post a competitive
total.
