| Hartlepool continued to struggle in the field as Marske dominated the
match at Park Drive. Ian Jackson removed former professional Steve
Chapman second ball and Callum Prosser bowled Colin Haslett for his first
Premier League wicket to give Hartlepool and early advantage.
Rob Nichol however took advantage of the weakened Hartlepool
attack to register a century. He was supported by Gary Lynch
and John Meredith who both scored fifties as Marske piled up 254 for 3
declared.

The loss of early wickets and the absence of Michael Gough made
Hartlepool's task even greater. Thara Gunarathne batting at number 3
took advantage of an extended stay at the crease to record a maiden
century for Hartlepool. Thatra eventually fell in the final overs
for 101 attempting another big hit. His century included 8 fours and
4 sixes. Alan Tebbett made 23 batting at number 4.
The points haul for Hartlepool was again disappointing (5) having
failed to reach the 75% target during their reply. Marske collected
16 points as Hartlepool closed on 177 for 7 Hartlepool
