After Shani Dissenayeke hit a century Hartlepool were always chasing the game. Home bowlers are finding the slow -low early season conditions difficult to contend with and nobody was able to find a consisent length.
The total of 224 must have seemed like a mountain to climb after the loss of Gough and Wilkinson in the early overs. When Gunarathne fell to a brilliant catch it seemed as if Richmondshires good form would continue.

Danny Shurmer however looked confident and played some good strokes as Hartlepool re-built. In partnership with Jon Cannon who was full of attacking intent they actually took Hartlepool to a point where the visitors chose to defend and protect their total.
Shurmer was first out, having made a very good 57with Cannon falling
for 48 as he looked to push the rate on. . Chris Harrison continued his good early season batting with a solid
25* as Hartlepool settled at 191 for 7 when the chase for further points became impossible.
